Sea Change

The world premiere play, "Sea Change," by Nick Salamone takes us on a journey at sea with a group of friends through 25 years of intense relationships.

Directed by Jon Lawrence Rivera, "Sea Change" is a roller coaster of emotion, including an awkward love triangle between Gene (Ryun Yu), Sunny (Nick Cimiluca), and Val (Clay Forseth).  Meanwhile, the lesbians of the group, Elle (Fran Deleon) and Jan (Lisa Tharps), grow apart due to a mental instability that not even a pregnancy can heal.

The most impressive of the cast are the females.  Deleon and Pharps alone guide our attention to the plot.  Without these phenomenal performances, it is doubtful the story would have been as successful.  This is not to say the remaining cast failed as performers, but the diligent work of Pharps and Deleon are fantastically apparent.

Gary Reed is the designer of the magnificent sailboat in which the friends set up to whale watch.  Through the 25 years, costume designer Elizabeth Huffman obsessively perfects each decade with tasteful coherence.
