Confusions

Confusions was written by the comedic British playwright Alan Ayckbourn in 1974. It is actually five short comedies playing at The Lost Studio in Los Angeles. Skillfully directed by John Pleshette, it features an extremely talented cast who take on various roles with flair and humor. Each performs with flawless British accents.

A Talk In The Park opens the series featuring Brendan Hunt as Arthur and also closes them (much like bookends to the other three plays). In Mother Figure Lucy (Mina Badie), who is a stay-at-home mom spends so much time with her “kids”, that, when visited by her next-door neighbors Rosemary (Abigail Revasch) and Terry (Steve Wilcox), she treats them like children. Harry (Brendan Hunt) is a traveling salesman at a hotel in Drinking Companions who is desperately trying to pick up Paula (Phoebe James) and Bernice (Abigail Ravasch) while waiter (Adrian Neil) continues to serve drinks. Between Mouthfuls finds Brendan Hunt playing the waiter to two bickering couples Mr. Pearce (Adrian Neil), Mrs. Pearce (Bridget Ann White) and Martin (Steve Wilcox) and Polly (Pheobe James) in an upscale restaurant. But the funniest act of all is Gosforth’s Fete in which the proper Mrs. Councilwoman Pearce (White) is to speak at a charity fete run by Gosforth (Neil) when all chaos breaks loose, including a heavy rainstorm. Badie, Hunt and Wilcox are also featured in Gosforth’s Fete. In A Talk In The Park finale, we find Arthur (Hunt), Beryl (James), Charles (Neil) and Doreen (White) again meeting on park benches and conversing to end the five comedies.
