In a fabulous farcical comedy, the talented cast from A Noise Within performs Michael Frayn’s hilarious show, Noises Off under the astute direction of Geoff Elliot. Featured are Shaun Anthony (Tim Allgood), Apollo Dukakis (Selsdon Mowbray), Geoff Elliott (Lloyd Dallas, Jill Hill (Brenda Blair), Mikael Salazar (Garry Lejeune), Lenne Klingaman (Poppy Norton-Taylor), Emily Kosloski (Brooke Ashton), Stephen Rockwell (Frederick Fellowes) and Deborah Strang (Dotty Otley). A large cast, indeed, which adds to the outrageous out-of control chaos that persists throughout the 3-act performance.
Act I opens with Director Lloyd Dallas giving directions to Dotty Otley during a rehearsal shortly before the opening of a new play, Noises On. The magnificent set for “their production” (and for Noises Off) is by Adam Lillibridge. Watching Dotty, one wonders if she will ever get through her role. Problems abound during the entire rehearsal. Can the show go on? But, of course, the show must and does go on. In Act II, we are privy to see what goes on backstage with the characters. (By the way, watching the stage managers turn the set around during intermission is almost a show in itself!) A month has passed, and problems persist, not with the production, but with the cast carrying on, jealousy and rumors flying. However, the show must go on and, once again, we watch the set being turned for Act III, closing night of Noises On, which turns into a bedlam of catastrophes through to the end.
The entire production is a riot, some of the most fun you can expect at a theatrical production that is so well done and entertaining. It will continue at A Noise Within through Dec. 20.
