In his return performance at the Colony Theatre Company in Burbank, Ventriloquist Jay Johnson, once again, wowed his audiences with his skill as well as his humor. His “solo” performance (with his many “speaking friends,” as it appears he is not alone on stage), was written by Johnson, directed by Murphy Cross and Paul Kreppel.
Known for his role on television’s Soap, Johnson performed The Two and Only! Off-Broadway in 2004, later hit theatres in San Francisco, Los Angeles (The Colony) and Boston. In 2007 he brought his show to Broadway, winning the 2007 Tony Award that year for Special Theatrical Event. Not a wonder as his talent is worthy of high recognition. The show is an autobiography as well as a history of ventriloquism, all told with a great deal of humor. Jay’s ability as a ventriloquist is spectacular and he is a top entertainer. Due to his overwhelming popularity at the Colony Theatre, Jay Johnson and his wonderful puppets made a return appearance at the theatre for a limited run. Let’s hope for a longer one next time.
